Challenge

The client required a specialized test stand to evaluate the impact strength of plastic and composite samples strictly according to the ISO 6603-2 standard. The system needed to support variable gravitational drop heights, configurable load weights, interchangeable arrowheads, and precision data capture during high-velocity impact events.

Solution

Proximo designed and built an advanced drop-weight impact test stand utilizing a robust aluminum structural profile and steel plate construction. The rig features an automated moving mechanism for positioning the arrowhead assembly, integrated force measurement systems, high-speed vision tracking, and a user-friendly touchscreen control interface.

Scope of Work

Comprehensive engineering and commissioning services:

  • Mechanical design of the frame using structural aluminum profiles, steel plates, and custom components
  • Development of the vertical moving mechanism for arrowhead positioning (10 cm to 1 m height range)
  • Integration of measurement instrumentation for impact force and magnetic sensor arrays
  • Implementation of an internal LED lighting setup and a dedicated vision system for test observation
  • Programming of the touchscreen display interface and multi-color status signaling systems

Outcome

The fully operational test stand enables standardized, highly repeatable impact testing for loads ranging from 0.5 to 11 kg. With automated data input and integrated safety/status signaling, the system provides precise material validation compliance under the ISO 6603-2 framework.
